DocsInsertThe menu
The menu
Type // to open the snippet menu. Arrows move, Tab or Enter inserts, Esc closes and leaves the shortcut typed.
The menu lists keys that start with what you typed after //. // alone lists them all. Matching ignores case. Each row shows //key and a one-line preview. Line breaks in the snippet are spaces in that preview. The inserted text keeps the line breaks.
Choose a row
- Arrow down and arrow up move the highlight. They wrap at the ends.
- Tab, Enter, or a click inserts the highlighted snippet.
- Esc closes the menu.
//and the letters you typed stay in the field. - A click outside the menu closes it. A click back in the same field does not.
If nothing matches, the menu says No matching snippet. Tab or Enter then closes it and does what the field would normally do, such as a new line in a text area.
After insert
The shortcut is removed and the snippet content is written at the caret. On Pro, a snippet with @input() opens a form first instead of inserting immediately. That form is documented in Forms.
The hint under the menu is the same one as the playground: ↑↓ navigate · Tab or Enter insert · Esc close.
Write it once. Type // forever.
Install the extension. The same shortcuts work in every tab.
