Tags

A snippet can have up to 10 tags. Each tag is up to 24 characters. In the popup, type them separated by commas, as in the placeholder client, urgent.

How a tag is saved

• Tags are stored in lowercase.
• Spaces become hyphens. Follow up is saved as follow-up.
• A leading # is removed.
• Letters, numbers, _, and - stay. Other characters are dropped.
• The same tag is not stored twice on one snippet.

Type //# in a field

//# opens a filtered menu. It matches a tag first, then a folder. //#urgent shows snippets tagged urgent. //#client can show a folder whose name starts with Client.

• An exact tag wins over a prefix.
• A tag prefix matches, so //#urg can find urgent.
• A folder matches by its name, with spaces read as hyphens, or by one of its words.
• If nothing matches, the menu says No snippet with this tag or folder.

On Free, //# does not open this menu. Tags you set while on Pro stay saved if the plan lapses. The field is hidden until Pro is back, same as folders.
